Today, our situation surrounding the modern society is faced with the unprecedented trial. That is, a capitalistic notion of traditional values and a notion to make sustainable society, as is repeatedly taken up when talking about environmental problems, can hardly exist together. It is not too much to say that our social principle to enrich the life is based on "mass production, mass consumption, and mass disposal". And, as long as these circumstances are directly related to environmental destruction, trying to keep the sustainable development under the ideology is nothing but paradoxical.
Therefore, we have to realize that the growth of our life is already almost limited. And if there is a possibility to change the trend of our society into something better, we must take action. Orchestra Tokyo aims at rethinking about the richness and seeking the ideal way to future, for wide range of people, especially young people who give much influence on the future, through art. We focus on music, as we want to put "the mental richness" in the first place among others.
A lot of music concerts are held day by day. However, in fact, classical music is not so popular as other kinds of music. If the art do not need changes, that leads to the death of itself in the end. As the masterworks of the past classical music are too much preferred in today's classical concerts, classics cannot make any differences and merely regarded as "stiff and formal". Thus Orchestra Tokyo projects to share the pleasure of the art with young people more easily, who have power to change the future, and regain the values of the art !
